The following are excerpts from an interview with Mark Hauser, President of Hauser Capital Management, a registered investment advisor firm based out of New York City.

Both the CFA Institute and Dow Jones Market Watch have featured Hauser’s research, including his paper on value investing and his technical analysis of stock prices after natural disasters.

Hauser is active in the financial planning industry and has spoken at conferences, including the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, The Financial Planning Association, and The Investment Management Consultants Association. He has been featured in publications such as “Investment News”, “Marketwatch”, CNBC, and “The Wall Street Journal”.

Hauser is currently a member of the CFA Institute Research Committee. He is also on the advisory committee for Vanguard’s institutional Fixed Income Group.

Hauser holds a bachelor’s degree with distinction from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Columbia Business School. He is also a CFA Charterholder.

Mark Hauser joined the firm in 2004, when he was appointed Vice President of Asset Management. He is based in New York and serves as president of the firm’s asset management division.

In 2007, Hauser added investment research to his responsibilities, which included managing the firm’s equity portfolios and overseeing its quantitative and quantitative software. He is responsible for the firm’s total return program and with oversight of its value investing philosophy, which was developed through research by the Hauser Capital team.
