Dr. Chris Brummer Founder and President

Brummer is the founder and president of PDI Strategies, a global consulting firm specializing in researching, analyzing, and implementing trade and investment policy and agreements. He is a senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, a former vice president at the Council of the Americas, and a former associate in the Trade and Investment Group at the law firm DLA Piper. His research has appeared in leading academic journals, and his services have been sought by governments, international organizations, and companies in over 100 countries. His research covers a wide range of topics, from the impact of regional trade agreements on national economies to the impact of global value chains on labor standards and the effectiveness of government procurement policies.

Dr. Brummer has written over 70 articles, book chapters, and trade and investment policy reports. His papers have appeared in leading academic journals such as the American Economic Review, the Journal of Development Economics, International Economics, the World Economic, and the World Trade Review. He was a contributing editor to the Peterson Institute’s Globalization Report until 2013.

He has been interviewed regularly by major news outlets, including CNN, CNBC Asia (Asia Business Report), Bloomberg TV (Bloomberg Markets), Al-Jazeera TV (World), Reuters TV (Reuters Live), Radio France Internationale, Radio New Zealand International (RNZI), Voice of America News (VOA News) and others. Dr. Brummer is a frequent speaker at international conferences such as the Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific meeting in Honolulu (CSCAP) and meetings of think tanks like Chatham House in London and Brookings Institution in Washington DC. He has also been a guest speaker at many other conferences.

He is a man of many interests and has been involved in various other activities, including the founding of the Center for Business and Sustainable Development, the International Association for Public Participation in Business (IAP2B), and the Governance Board of the Global Value Chain Coalition.
